Jutta

Hi I´m Jutta, and I was born in Germany, I did my training as a secretary and further training as a personal assistant so my typing is quite fast and I have good shorthand skills, handy for on a boat! haha.

I grew up and attended school in Lugwishafen At the age of 28, I relocated to the UK after securing a job with a freight forwarder in Felixstowe, so with only a little school English I enrolled in an English class in Brighton. It was whilst working with the freight forwarder as a deponent and met my husband a road haulage contractor at the time Alfie.

On the 5th November 2000, we took on a pub a well-known live music venue, in Ipswich I gave up my job as a disponent shortly after to devote all my time to the Steamboat Tavern, bar/restaurant.

It was not long before our thoughts turned to boat ownership, as a way to escape to the water on our all too infrequent time to ourselves.

I then signed up for an RYA compitant crew course as I had never taken part in sailing a boat before, and I must say was a little nervous.

As we had no flat and had sold or donated most of our possessions, we are now living on our 31-foot boat in Neptune Marina in Ipswich. We are sitting in the boat in December 2003 with snow on the ground, the diesel heater blowing, nice and snug, and thinking about what to do next. we both decided as we had nothing holding us in Ipswich it be nice to travel somewhere warmer.

Since moving back onto the boat I decided I would like to do another RYA sailing course, in preperation for our next big adventure so I booked the “Day Skipper” course with Learn2Sail in Portimao. It was an online theory (very difficult for me) and a week’s Practical Sailing.
